Ballast Water Management - What you Really need to Know
New laws are approaching the shipping industry and all ships will have to carry out planned management of ballast water and treatment of the sediment left when ballast has been discharged. Port State Control will want to check your Ballast Water Record Book amd you will need a Ballast Water Management Officer for every voyage.
Just as important, ships will have to exchange Ballast Water whilst in deep water, far out at sea. This can be dangerous if you don't do it correctly. There is a real risk of capsizing.
You need to have a Ballast Water Management Plan that is SAFE, and that WORKS.
