It is an operation performed regularly onboard every ship almost every day. Yet all too often what is viewed as regular and routine ends up as an injury or, tragically, a fatality. Every crew member must understand what constitutes an enclosed space and how it may harm them.
This film presents the basics in enclosed space recognition. It answers the three most important questions every mariner must answer: What is it? How can it hurt me? What can I do to protect myself?
Subjects covered included: the definition of an enclosed space; types of hazards found in an enclosed space; detection of enclosed space hazards and protecting yourself from enclosed space hazards.
