Ship Security Officer - Duties and Responsibilities
Heightened ship security requires planning, coordination and new responsibilities. Much of this falls to the Ship Security Officer (SSO).
This film looks at the key competencies required of the SSO, such as maintaining and supervising implementation of the Ship Security Plan, and the importance of the SSO in identifying threats to ship security, recognising their significance, and responding to them.
The program also covers the ship / shore interface, discussing the relationship between port security, vessel security, and terminal security, and concludes with SSO administration requirements.
